Overview
This article provides step-by-step directions on how to download SuperQuads from the the Map Store and then find and view them in the TOPO! Explorer application.
Step-by-Step
1. Launch the TOPO! Explorer application and Login when prompted.
2. Click the "Map Store" icon from the TOPO.COM bucket on the left navigation-bar
3. Your map screen will change to the Map Store and you will be presented an overview of the number of maps you've downloaded to date and your remaining map credits. If you have a TOPO! Explorer serial number but have not entered it yet. Click the "My Account" link in the TOPO.COM bucket and enter it on your "My Purchases" tab.
4. Use the US Map to pan and double-click to zoom into the area where you would like to download maps.
5. Note as you zoom in an overview map will appear on the left of the larger map. This overview map shows you the name and outline of the SuperQuads in that area. A corresponding gray rectangle will appear on the larger map which shows you the boundaries of the SuperQuad you are currently centered on.
6. Continuing clicking on either the large or small maps to position yourself in the area you wish to download SuperQuads.
5. Once you've located the maps you need simply click the "Add to Cart" button. *You can remove them later if you wish* Note: SuperQuads in your cart appear yellow in the smaller overview map, maps you already have downloaded will appear green.
6. Click the "Proceed to Checkout" button when you have all the SuperQuads you need in your cart. At this time you can edit your cart, and will be presented with an accounting of how many map credits you need, how many you have, and given options to buy more if necessary.
7. Once satisfied, click the "Place Order" button. You will be presented with your choice of two download options "Now" or "When I Zoom to Them". By choosing "now" - you will download all the various layers and tiles associated with the SuperQuads you've purchased. They will be stored to your harddrive and you can use these maps offline. By choosing "When I Zoom to Them" - your SuperQuads will not download to your harddrive until you actually browse to those maps. You will be required to have an internet connection to view these maps until you've browsed over every level, layer, and tile that makes up a SuperQuad. This is a great option if you don't want to tie up your internet, and don't expect to use TOPO! Explorer offline in the near future. You can always come back to these options later and choose to download all the maps you've purchased.
8. After selecting your preferred option the Pop-Up menu will change, taking you to the Maps section of your library. A list of the SuperQuads you own is displayed here.
9. To view a particular map, simply click the SuperQuad name - your map will reposition and zoom you into the USGS 1:100k scale level for that particular SuperQuad.
Should you immediately start browsing maps that you've just purchased, you may notice that certain tiles read "Download in Progress". If you selected the download "Now" option from the store, the downloader will prioritize the tiles based upon your browsing. Should you have selected to download the maps as you browse, these tiles will stream in and be stored to your hard-drive as you zoom and pan around the SuperQuads you've purchased.
